  • Pride Celebration

Thu 24 Jun 2021 Cherubins team

On Thursday the 24th the children and staff had a wonderful time at the Pride party, the children made pride cup cakes using a variety of bright coloured icing and topped with multi coloured sprinkles, orange and lemon segments, smarties and fruits.

The children listened to multicultural music and danced the day away filling their little bellies with delightful treats and yummy foods. Some children’s room created handprint rainbows and others made badges ‘love is love’ this is the message for all, and the children learned that we should love and treat every human being with the same respect. And to never judge others for who they choose to love, the colour of their skin, their religion or cultural beliefs.

  • 'Our Chickens have Arrived'

Fri 14 May 2021 Cherubins team

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you all to the newest members of our Cherubins family, who will be joining Rosie the rabbit. We have just brought back three beautiful and inquisitive chickens. They have yet to be named and would like to ask you all to maybe take a couple of minutes to sit with your child/ren to write down some names for our chickens. Please write the chosen names down and bring back to us in the morning or afternoon whenever is convenient to you and we will pick the names out of a hat, these will be chosen names.

We have a gated section outside called ‘Pet corner’ and we are hoping that the children will help care of all our furry friends

The children have been aware of the arrival of the chickens and have been learning within their group rooms what chickens can eat and foods that should be avoided; they have learned that chickens will not start laying eggs until they reach 16-20 weeks.

We are all looking forward to the first chicken egg this will definitely be put to good use; some suggestions are “chocolate cake, cup cakes”.

Our goal for the pet corner is for our children to understand such things as to care for animals and to be kind to living creatures. The many rewards that come from being kind to all living things, not just each other.

Also that food such as ‘eggs’ do not just come from Tesco! Or the ‘fridge’. Over the next coming weeks we will also be introducing a compost bale so that we can reduce the nursery waste, developing the children’s understanding of the importance of caring for our planet for generations to come!!!

Thu 04 Mar 2021 Cherubins team

Lewisham's children and Staff have had a fun filled time learning about recycling

looking at sorting and learning what happens to all our waste, the children have been taking part in sorting diffrent waste matirals into the correct bags and box's. watching sort clips/videos about landfills and what affect our waste has on the enviroment as a whole.

Stargazers and Jasmine had fun removing all the toys from their rooms and giving the children the opportunity to explore recycling materials such as bottles, boxes, packets, tubes and lots more. They had a fantastic time climbing inside the boxes, filling boxes with smaller boxes and tubs, their box play house, painting on bubble wrap, making a wheel barrow from a box, and mark making using the paint pens to doodle on the cardboard that had been placed on the windows/floors.

Throughout the whole nursery the children have created junk modling robots, cars, play house, wheel barrow and dump trucks.
